PROCESS Their requirements were for a combination of offices and open plan workstations, meeting rooms, a waiting area, large boardroom, secretarial area, executive office and a facilities zone.
SOLUTION The interior brief was to create a modern, contemporary work environment with a warm welcoming feel. This was achieved with textured wall and floor finishes, fabrics in ochres and sage greens, modern furniture in a natural Monument Oak finish paired with black accents.

OCCUPANCY The staff compliment is 130 people working over various divisions.

CLIENT PROFILE Engen Petroleum, an oil and gas company that focuses on the downstream [refined petroleum] products market as well as other related businesses.
LOCATION PE Corporate Security & Facilities, Greenacres, Port Elizabeth.
SOLUTION To create a space which would leave a sophisticated and lasting impression on staff and clients.
RESULT By incorporating different textures, fabrics and finishes relating to the context of the existing space and the Corporate Identity of the client, Cecil Nurse provided a creative and trim work environment which met the clients requirements.
CLIENT PROFILE Khatho Civils (Pty) Ltd is a South African based design and [construction company] involved in the development of [large scale infrastructure] targeting both private and public sectors.
LOCATION Midrand, Gauteng.
PROCESS Cecil Nurse was requested to space plan and furnish two floors including the open plan offices, executive offices, canteens and pause areas.
SOLUTION Modern, elegant, clean cut lines and rich colour is the design. The open plan areas and the executive offices make a big and bold statement with deep, dark colours finished with plush wood tones.
RESULT The design and installation met the clients needs and expectations, Khatho Civils (Pty) Ltd and Cecil Nurse woked closely together as one team which made the installations an absolute success. Cecil Nurse was able to meet the clients goal of a professional yet elegant environment, promoting productivity with quality furniture.
CLIENT PROFILE Dadas Motorland is a [wholesale and retail] vehicle supplier.
LOCATION The showroom is located on Ampthill Avenue, Benoni.
OCCUPANCY The building is occupied by sales representatives and head office.
SOLUTION The design of the showroom, offices & pause areas feature our Diamond ranges complimented with our Kicca Swivel chairs as well as bespoke occasional pieces. The executive offices incorporate a sophisticated look with our Capital desks & Of Course chairs.
RESULT An elegant, tasteful space which met all requirements of the clients brief.
CLIENT PROFILE Bidcorp is an international broad-line food service group present in developed and developing economies on five continents.
OCCUPANACY The building is occupied by Bidcorp head office personnel.
SOLUTION The design of the offices featured high specification occasional pieces complimented by exquisite veneer boardrooms and desking.
RESULT A modern and tasteful luxurious space which is extremely welcoming and comfortable.
CLIENT PROFILE The client required a look and feel that is clean, uncluttered and modern.
PROCESS Cecil Nurse was required to install a furniture range that could be moved and re-used in a new space once the company relocates.
The client chose a black, grey and white theme, to include DHL chairs and Benchwork desking. The call center (engine room) prominently features Benchwork, matching mobile peds and white and black screens. All executive offices were furnished with Diamond desks and ergonomic office chairs.
SOLUTION This was a particularly successful project for Cecil Nurse, expertly installed by the Johannesburg team.
RESULT The client was very happy with how the Benchwork ranges ‘opened up’ their existing space and, even though the installation was 1400 x 750mm, it allowed for sufficient space, particularly in the call centers.
CLIENT PROFILE RCL is a leading African food producer operating across South Africa and in various southern African countries.
OCCUPANCY The staff complement is aprox. 700 people working in various divisions of RCL.
SOLUTION The designer on the project EPL Novospace, in consultation with RCL, was briefed to create something unique in Durban and decided on the versatility and adaptability of the Keyworks range, along with the fact that the range fitted in with the bespoke look they were intent on creating.
RESULT Special attention was given to the boardroom, formal and casual meeting areas as well as breakaway and relaxation areas to ensure a productive and highly motivated staff.
CLIENT PROFILE Pikitup Johannesburg (SOC) Ltd is the official integrated waste management service provider to the City of Joburg. They are mandated to provide integrated waste management services to the residents of Johannesburg. They employ more than 4500 people, using more than 200 trucks to provide refuse collection services to the City of Joburg’s private, and business residents.

PROCESS Our designer – whom we have worked closely with on a number of projects – Arcrose Design started the ball rolling by asking us to quote on this massive project. One of the biggest our JHB branch has ever been awarded. Bayete Capital were the Project Managers and with expert teams in the field we all worked together to get the job done!
SOLUTION Cecil Nurse fitted out 5 floors of furniture with beautiful crisp white workstations and different colour accents on each floor. Our Head office range, accompanied by our Ritz Chairs made the Offices modern, executive & maximised space. Our Brainstorm boardroom tables worked so well, with the colourful plexi glass centre to fit the corporate look & feel. Domino tables in their Function areas – for durability, and adaptable churns for different meetings. Win Mesh Backs were used throughout the Open Plan and Meeting areas – for comfortable, ergonomic seating and a fresh new look. Pause areas had a mix of comfy ottomans & Pepe coffee tables, as well as dining werzalit tables with Cool Chairs. Bobo bar stools for a quick Coffee were ideal.
RESULT A December installation is never easy – our Cecil Nurse team was nothing less than fantastic. Our installation & delivery teams worked day & night to get the project finished with a very short lead time. Working together works! We got the project finished by annual shut down and the final office space looked fresh, and was a great success.
CLIENT PROFILE CTI Education Group is part of Pearson, the worlds leading learning company. CTI Education is registered with the Department of Higher education and training, as a private higher education institution.

PROCESS Cecil Nurse was requested to design, space plan and furnish the academic staff area’s , giving the staff maximum storage in an open plan area in Midrand. Once we had completed the initial task, CTI Education was so impressed we were awarded the role of primary furniture supplier for all of CTI Education & Pearson. Since then we have furnished the new area’s of Midrand Campus, Durbans new Campus and just recently the Pretoria Campus Sales & Administration blocks, with further projects on the horizon.
SOLUTION Practical, functional furniture was brought into the design to optimize space in all the offices utilising bench work and bench storage in Taormina Ash & white. The executive offices are furnished with the complete Ecocentric exec range and the staff areas are a bit more up beat and funky with different colours utilised from our café selection.
RESULT CTI Education & staff are extremely happy with Cecil Nurse products and design, but mostly impressed by the professional on time delivery and installation. Cecil Nurse had the tough task of installing in an incomplete building surrounded by other contractors, but even under the extreme circumstances the job was completed on time and with no hiccups.

PROCESS Cecil Nurse was requested to space-plan, design and furnish 6 Buildings based in Johannesburg, more importantly we were requested to please assist in providing the same chairs as what had been provided at their HQ in China, Shenzhen. Cecil Nurse was up against a few other office furniture suppliers, We came out on top, we were given the contact as we are the leading office furniture suppliers in Africa. We have signed a 5 year contract with Huawei South Africa.
SOLUTION When we started the project they initially wanted a ergonomic chair with head and foot rest, we suggested the Enjoy, Vivo or DHL. The client came back to us with a picture of the IOO, as they have this in their HQ in Shenzhen, and the journey of the IOO chairs began. It took us a while to get the deal from Huawei, once the deal was secured it was a very long process from ordering the chairs in China Shenzhen, waiting for them to be manufactured and then transported to Guangzhou to the harbour for the long trek to South Africa, once the chairs arrived at Durban harbour, they were collected by trucks and the 9 containers made their way by road to Johannesburg to be delivered to Cecil Nurse Head Office in Germiston. Once the containers were offloaded, the project took off, Cecil Nurse’s warehouse staff were super excited to learn how to assemble the new chair on the block that everyone is talking about, The novelty wore off very quickly after assembling +/-500 chairs but still pushed through, 2400 chairs made their way from our Head Office to the various locations.
RESULT Due to the hard work put into this project, from Melanie going back and forth with China and Herbert on the phone to comfort in China every day, to our planning department, admin, service, assembling team and the delivery team the result has been tremendous, the team work put into this project was absolutely phenomenal, This volumes that we handled passing into and out the warehouse was a huge success and to get the chairs to their various locations day in and out, All of this was done with no hiccups thank you to The two Thomas’s in our service team, an absolute honour to have gentlemen like that working with your clients and sales consultants daily and absolutely none of the above would of been possible without Mr Juan Koen, his OCD tendencies were really appreciated, he has kept absolutely everything under control, from my nerves to all the paperwork to all the planning, e-mails, making sure all the assembling was going to schedule to absolutely everything and still try to keep a team going. I really appreciate everything he did to assist and to guide me every step of the way. I have learnt so much through this project and honestly could never have done it without HIM!!!!!
We are currently working on their offices now and hoping to place the order soon for 935 workstations.
CLIENT PROFILE Siteform is a leader in the field of light steel construction in South Africa. The method is not only less labour intensive than traditional building techniques, but also cleaner and greener, ensuring a better and brighter future for our beloved planet.

SOLUTION Cecil Nurse was approached to furnish the new Siteform offices. The building was constructed using their signature light steel method. The steel exterior consists of clean lines that are in stark contrast to the warm surrounding Free State landscape. That contrast inspired the interior design look and feel.
The contrast in textures and in warmth can be seen in all the different working spaces. The use of natural woods against chrome and plastic, create an energetic work space. Except for the visual appeal speaking to the company’s brand, the eco-friendly nature of the building style is reflected in the eco-friendly furniture provided by Cecil Nurse.
CLIENT PROFILE OFM started broadcasting on the 1st of July 1985. Since then the station has established itself as the media power house of central South Africa and forms part of the Central Media Group. Today the station broadcasts in English and Afrikaans across four provinces –Free State, Northern Cape, North West and Southern Gauteng.

SOLUTION Over a span of 2 years, during building, Cecil Nurse worked closely with the architects on the project, ensuring the final project was in line with the customers’expectations. The client required large open plan working areas, studios, and formal/informal meeting areas. The final interior layout reflects the funky upbeat vibe of the radio station, while meeting all the practical office needs.
CLIENT PROFILE PPS is the only mutual financial services company in South Africa that has focused exclusively on graduate professionals for over 74 years.

PROCESS Cecil Nurse was appointed by long time client Samantha Levin from SL Designs to supply, deliver and install the furniture for PPS’s new head office. The client and designer visited our showroom to select products and colours which would suit their corporate identity.
SOLUTION Samantha creatively designed the space, and used colour effectively to create a unique desk concept for the client, using our exclusive laminates and fabrics.
RESULT Although we had an extremely tight deadline, Cecil Nurse was able to manufacture, deliver and install a complete custom-made order within 4 weeks. The furniture along with Samantha’s exceptional design resulted in a fantastic end product.

G4S provides integrated solutions to customers across various sectors. Each sector is headed up by their specialists with a wealth of local market knowledge and in-depth sector, expertise, who will tailor a solution to help customers reach their business goals.
LOCATION Centurion – the G4S National Control Centre is also housed.
PROCESS This project was an exciting referral from a long standing contractor that Cecil Nurse has dealt with for many years. It was daunting to take on at first – as this new three story building had a tight deadline. However with the expertise of our team at Cecil Nurse we managed to pull off a very successful project.
SOLUTION This particular project had very large open plan areas. Therefore, we went with our White Synthesis range, with roller door credenza’s and mobile pedestals for each workstation. To tie in with the corporate colours we decided on all workstations to be in white, with the screens upholstered in the G4S corporate colours of red & black.
The Executive Offices were done in our Head Office range – with Ergonomic Mesh Executive Chairs, giving the whole look a very fresh modern appeal.
The Canteen area needed to tie in with the colour scheme of the offices. We introduced our Coco & Cabana Cafe chairs and paired them with white tables.
RESULT With a great workforce and team work we completed this installation within two weeks.

PROCESS The new offices are situated in the heart of Woodstock with breath-taking views of Table Mountain. The new interior made provision for a reception area, informal meeting rooms, larger formal meeting rooms, offices, open plan seating for 40 staff, one 18-seater boardroom with full video conferencing facility, open plan office, and a kitchen and staff pause area. The Acta Partitioning System was used in the project; which is a versatile demountable glazed wall partitioning system which echoed the glass facades and made the new Swiss Re office space a series of open views, and modern clean lines.
CLIENT PROFILE GWK, a public company with its head office in Douglas (Northern Cape), focuses on adding value for partners in agriculture. GWK is a leader in agribusiness, with a complete range of products and services, offered by a diverse group of business that focus on comprehensive solutions for modern agribusiness.
LOCATION Douglas – South Africa
SOLUTION GWK, a fast growing public company, needed more space for their fast growing staff. Cecil Nurse was approached to offer a solution to their problem.
For the first phase, we demolished all current dry wall offices and changed it to an open space with only a few glass enclosed offices for top management and glass partitioning for middle management.
For the senior manager’s offices Cecil Nurse used the Ecocentric Executive Desk in Light Oak. For the middle managers the Xpress-Tec Managerial Desk was used, and for all open plan desks Cellular workstations were installed. This project was “a first” for Cecil Nurse/Kimberley in that the branch had to handle both the construction of the offices, as well as provide the furniture for GWK. The whole project proved to be a huge success and the team is currently working on phase two for GWK.
CLIENT PROFILE Zurich South Africa is a short-term insurance company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (“JSE”).
PROCESS Accommodating approximately 620 staff, the offices were designed to incorporate all business critical elements; including managerial offices, meeting rooms, open plan administration areas, staff lounges, video conferencing facilities and a 100-seater auditorium with adjacent entertainment facility. It showcases the best modern technology, material and advancements.
CLIENT PROFILE Deloitte is one of the country’s leading professional services firms, providing audit, tax, consulting and financial advisory services throughout Southern Africa.
SOLUTION Our designers, NMC Interior Design, started with Deloitte four years ago with a small project. When the client saw the benefits of using a top design company and well chosen products, it started the roll-out of a national footprint and company branding project.
RESULT Cecil Nurse provided cost-effective workstations that offer maximum acoustic performance, creating much needed space in an open-plan environment. Cable management was of utmost importance and had to be installed in a manner that would allow easy access and flexibility.
CLIENT PROFILE Unilever South Africa (Pty Ltd), a subsidiary of Unilever PLC, is one of the largest FMCG companies in the South Africa. The company is over 100 years old, with brands that are household names throughout the country. Unilever South Africa has over 3000 employees based across two office buildings and five manufacturing locations in South Africa.
PROCESS DNA Interior Design, understanding their clients needs and the churn that happens in the group, liked the versatility and adaptability of our Benchwork system. Within the open plan “engine rooms”, high density workstations were colour coded into separate divisions, designed to optimize space efficiency. Quiet rooms, meeting rooms, canteen and “play-area’s” were created to give staff an opportunity to retreat or relax and catch their breath. A working environment that can only produce the best company results along with happy staff who love thier work space.
CLIENT PROFILE RAM Hand-to-Hand Couriers is the only non subcontracting transport company in South Africa with over 27 hubs and over 1474 vehicles, with a staff of around 2809.
LOCATION Isando – Kempton Park
PROCESS Cecil Nurse was requested to space-plan, design and furnish 5 floors (administrative and executive offices). This building is the brand new head office and the benchmark for branches going forward, After a few months of debating and developing there corporate identity we were awarded the order in January 2015, due to the building completion dates being pushed back, we have only just completed the installation in November 2015.
SOLUTION Cecil Nurse decided on bench work as a range for the open plan and operators desking, giving the area’s a modern, sleek look as well as functionality. One of the requirements was that no power cables must be seen in any area. The design aimed to optimize space in all offices. Managers needed a larger working space with the option of storage or not, Ecocentric Lite was the perfect option to fulfil the requirements. The executive offices were each individually chosen by the Directors, with a flow of Ecocentric Executive and Head office, with an Ego in the mix.
RESULT The installation ran over 4 months , completing each floor as they were ready , the furniture perfectly met the expectations of the client in terms of style and functionality. Cecil Nurse was complimented on our superb service and patience through out the project.
CLIENT PROFILE The governing body for one of the nations most loved sports, the South African Rugby Union.
OCCUPANCY 106 Staff
SOLUTION The offices are set over three floors, with a generous reception area, private meeting rooms, management offices, open plan desking and a staff canteen. A spiral staircase enclosed with curved glass balustrades forms a focal point in the public spaces and connects the office floors.
CLIENT PROFILE On the Dot is the largest multichannel media logistics company in South Africa and offers a comprehensive, integrated, one-stop logistics solution for all media products.
OCCUPANCY 84 staff
SOLUTION Being unconventional and forward thinking, On the Dot elected not to install a traditional receptionist and reception desk. Instead, the new reception incorporates an area where clients can interact with the website and find out more about the company and their services.
RESULT In every aspect, the interior is dynamic and colourful. An open plan area offers seventy four workstations. There are separate meeting rooms, a boardroom with small function area, including a lounge and bar area, 8 offices; plus a kitchen and staff pause area. The pause area has a lounge and pool table, and space enough for larger functions.
CLIENT PROFILE The GBCSA is an independent, non-profit, membership-based organisation. A full member of the World Green Building Council and the official certification body of buildings under the Green Star SA Rating System.
LOCATION Observatory – Cape Town
PROCESS The ultimate objective was to “go green” wherever possible. The GBCSA wanted to create the first certified green office space according to the principles of the Green Star SA Commercial Interiors rating tool. In search of sustainable furniture, they approached Cecil Nurse, not only because they like the look of our product mix, but also because we could meet their sustainability criteria.
SOLUTION Cecil Nurse responded by offering a selection of fabulous furniture, manufactured from our “green laminate board,” carefully chosen to suit the GBCSA style and objectives. Bench-end storage units were specially designed with planter boxes, to bring the outdoors into the office.
People work better when they don’t feel couped up inside all day. Greenery and plants in offices add to the ambience in ways that detract from the drudge of working indoors.
RESULT The end result? A truly green workspace, where employees feel comfortable and productive; according to the GBCSA, the Cecil Nurse furniture in their new offices provided the best solutions: “Our work involves both focussed work as well as highly collaborative team work. The design of the space along with the furniture that occupies it allows us to move seamlessly between modes of work without interrupting others. Our storage “puppies”, that double up as second seats at our workstations, remain firm favourites.”

LOCATION Boksburg – Gauteng
PROCESS Cecil Nurse was requested to space-plan, design and furnish 4-5 floors (administrative and executive offices), plus an auditorium to seat 300 people at Basil Read’s proud new modern head office building. The furniture and interior décor needed to match the specific design of the building, mainly white, chrome and glass.
SOLUTION Modern, functional furniture was brought into the design to optimize space in all the admininstration offices. The executive offices were fashionably designed with specially imported furniture to suit specific requirements. A specifically designed and imported glass boardroom table with white and chrome furniture was manufactured to adorn the executive boardroom. The auditorium was carefully equipped by using a team who particularly specialise in this field.
RESULT The installation perfectly met the expectations of the client in terms of style and superb quality. Cecil Nurse’s state-of-the-art quality office furniture, combined with Basil Read’s exceptional design specifications created a contemporary, fresh and satisfying working environment for their staff in a corporate environment.
CLIENT PROFILE Caterpillar is the world’s [leading] manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives.

PROCESS Durable, functional, aesthetically pleasing furniture was required.
SOLUTION For the open plan office space, individual offices & meeting areas, the Benchwork system was used as it provides a free flowing, spacious work solution. Its shared components and floating desktops create a user-friendly office environment. The Flo Monitor Arm, placed on the workstations, is set apart by its unique design and offers smooth fingertip adjustability for easy monitor movement.

CLIENT PROFILE The Cecil Nurse [branch and showroom] is situated in Edenvale, Johannesburg, and shares its vast premises with the company’s [state-of-the-art] warehousing facility, as well as the Cecil Nurse head office.
LOCATION Johannesburg, Gauteng.
OCCUPANCY The staff complement at the Johannesburg branch comprises six administrative staff, three designers and sixteen sales consultants, who all share an open plan space. The five managers have their own offices, which are beautifully integrated with the open plan area.
SOLUTION The brief was to create a work environment that is not only aesthetically pleasing and comfortable but also functional and productive. The objective was to create a space that would inspire employees to feel more creative and motivated while in the office. The open plan area also needed to form part of the Cecil Nurse Johannesburg showroom set-up and perfectly demonstrates how furniture is utilised to achieve a healthy and holistic work environment.
RESULT A workspace was created that can easily accommodate the sales teams in a hot-desking environment, while creative pods and collaborative thinking areas promote the continuous exchange of ideas and information. By leaving ample open spaces in between the workstations, employees can naturally come together, work individually and also move around freely throughout the day. A coffee shop was added to also host clients in a more informal environment and a media island was established to allow for fuss-free presentations.
CLIENT PROFILE Consulmet is a specialist engineering group focused on the design and construction of minerals processing plants on a fixed basis.
LOCATION Modderfontein – Gauteng
PROCESS Cecil Nurse was requested to space-plan, design and furnish Consulmets’ new corporate Head office building. The existing building they were in was to small to accommodate the company growth, the furniture was also out dated. Consulmet wanted a fresh, calm feeling for their new building. Most staff members were used to having there own space/ office and were now moving to an open plan environment , Cecil Nurse had to take this into decision and design the open plan to accommodate the maximum amount of people without the feeling of overcrowding. Each Director decided they wanted to choose their own furniture as each of them have their own opinion and management styles.
SOLUTION Benchwork is a always a good solution to an open plan area, as the product is so multi functional. Due to most of the staff having their own office we decided to give them larger desks than usual in an open plan, while keeping the space of the room in mind, so we chose 1600×1600 core desk tops and desk height pedestals. The glass dividers give the illusion of not being boxed in, while the core top gives them ample desk space. The pigeon hole units were used to section of each department, keeping in line with the them of open plan but at the same time creating closed off area’s.
Consulmet is two floors, and they wanted a distinct separation between the two, Ground floor is admin, accounts and meetings, and first floor is sales, marketing and Directors. Due to Consulmet designing their building around a construction/ steel environment we chose dark oak and light oak for the floor separation, this created an earthy feel in order for the metal and rock wall features to stand out.
RESULT The installation ran smoothly and was completed on time for Consulmet to enjoy their first Christmas bash in the new building.
A lot of hard work and planning went in to the installation as Cecil Nurse had to work around a few other contractors.
Consulmet is very happy with the end result and is still placing add on orders with Cecil Nurse 3 years later

SOLUTION The design of the Cecil Nurse Conference Centre at Trails End Hotel incorporates product ranges exclusive to Cecil Nurse: black La Filo Arm chairs with felt fabric in red and the Achiever Table frames in matt black with graphite grey tops edged in black – a contemporary look.
RESULT A mix of contemporary furniture to suit every area brought together through the finishes, textures and colours of the furniture and its surroundings.

PROCESS Client required all their travel entities to be consolidated into one building.
SOLUTION Client selected our Exclusive Walnut Lyon finish paired with our Benchwork metal desk frame in black for a sophisticated, contemporary feel. This palette was continued throughout – utilised on storage and in the meeting rooms. Our black Win operators chair with its mesh back was selected to complement the theme used for the open plan workstations.

PROCESS Client required a range of furniture. Specifically for meeting rooms, boardrooms, open plan kitchen and canteen areas, as well as training rooms and office accessories.
SOLUTION The interior brief was to create a modern, contemporary work environment with a warm welcoming feel with hints of colour that reflect back to their brand and corporate identity. This was achieved with small nuances of colour in the wallpapers, wall claddings and furniture.

PROCESS To create a uniquely “Adient” experience that would translate to the global Adient brand. The interior needed to communicate a focused, genuine and ambitious workspace for both employees and customers.
SOLUTION The furniture incorporated needed to invoke a sense of modernity & comfort with clean lines and simple details. The furniture was to be light in appearance and simple in detailing. Colour was to be a combination of Walnut, White & greys juxtaposed with the greens & blue’s from the Adient logo.
RESULT Simplistic furniture ranges were used across the office interior. A combination of hierarchal furniture ranges was selected to suite the specific end-user’s function. From Eco-centric for the executive to the Xpress and Benchwork desk systems for the open plan offices. The Walnut Lyon and white was incorporated throughout the entire space as to bring a sense of unity throughout the various ranges. Splashes of lime green and teal were incorporated in the screens and soft seating to cement the corporate colours. Ergonomic Vivo chairs were used at each workstation and each desk was fitted with a cable tray to disguise the use of cabling.

RESULT A boardroom table and server finished in a Cecil Nurse exclusive Laminate finish, Taormina ash paired with black. Added nuances of yellow to tie in with the clients corporate identity. An interactive collaborative space with different textures, colours and finishes, complimenting one another perfectly.
